Antique Edwardian Faux Mesh Coin Purse with Wrist Chain — Circa 1910s
Just in is this beautiful, highly collectible antique faux-mesh change purse dating from the Edwardian era. Unlike traditional woven wire mesh, this unique piece features a solid metal body expertly stamped with a highly detailed, wavy pattern engineered to mimic the fluid appearance of real mesh.
The top frame features stunning Art Nouveau-style scrollwork and floral relief detailing. It comes complete with its original attached metal link wrist chain and a secure press-clasp closure.
Condition Details:
- Overall Structure: Great structural condition. The metal body is crisp, the hinges are solid, and the top clasp snaps tightly shut.
- Exterior: Beautiful silver-toned patina with light, honest age-related wear. The decorative relief on the frame is sharp and well-preserved.
- Interior: Features a original divided fabric lining. Note: There is minor green verdigris/patina present on the inner metal rim, which is normal and common for copper-alloy base metals of this age.
Approximate Measurements:
- Width 4.25 inches x Height 2.75 inches
- Chain drop: Length 4.5 inches
This gorgeous little purse is perfect for antique collectors, historic display, or as an authentic accessory for Edwardian/Victorian cosplay and reenactments.
